The First Session with Your New Tax Lawyer

If you are getting prepared to go to your first session with your tax lawyer, then there are some things that you need to know that will make you better prepared.  First of all, you need to make sure that you have all of the correct paperwork, all of your tax returns from your jobs, and any receipts from things that might actually give you a break on your taxes, such as donations, or paying for a child’s college education, though they are many other things in addition to those two that are listed.

Ask your tax attorney  if you have any questions regarding deductions and what qualifies as a tax deduction and what doesn’t. Once you have gathered all of your paperwork, make sure that you write down any questions that you might have to ask your tax attorney, because their time is very valuable and you want to make sure that you ask any questions quickly so that you don’t end up spending more money that you need to in order to finish up your taxes and get that nice healthy tax return.

So let’s review and make sure that you are ready for the first appointment.  Do you have all of your employment tax records, and form?  Do you have all itemized deductions and proof that you can provide to the lawyer?  Do you have all questions ready?  Then it’s time to go!
